Overview

Bmote (“the app”) is a Bluetooth remote control and geotagging companion for Sony and Fujifilm cameras, available for iPhone and Apple Watch. This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and where it goes.

The app has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It does not contain third-party SDKs and does not send any data to the developer or to any server operated by the developer.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth access is used to find, pair with and control your camera: triggering the shutter, focus, zoom and recording, and reading camera status such as battery level. The app remembers the cameras you have paired (their name and identifier) on your device so it can reconnect to them. This information never leaves your device except to communicate with your camera.

Location

If you turn on geotagging, the app reads your device’s location and sends it over Bluetooth directly to your connected camera, which writes it into your photos. Background location access lets this continue while your phone is locked or the app is in the background.

The app also keeps a local record of each shooting session (when photos and videos were taken, where, and the route you travelled) so it can show the session on a map and let you export it. This history is stored only on your device. You can delete any session in the app, and all of it is removed if you delete the app.

Location is never sent to the developer or to any third party. You can turn off geotagging, or revoke location access in Settings, at any time; the remote still works without it.

Microphone and speech recognition

If you use voice control, the app listens through the microphone for spoken commands such as “shoot”. Speech is processed entirely on your device using Apple’s on-device speech recognition. Audio is not recorded, stored or transmitted.

Photos

When you share a session, you can choose a photo from your library to include. The app reads only the photos you explicitly pick. If you save a generated image or video, the app asks for permission to add it to your photo library; it does not read your library in that case.

Maps

Session maps are displayed using Apple Maps (MapKit). To draw a map, your device requests map imagery from Apple for the area being shown. This is handled by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy; the developer does not receive this information.

Notifications, widgets and Apple Watch

Notifications (for example, timer reminders or a warning that the camera is about to sleep), Live Activities and widgets are generated locally on your device. The Apple Watch app communicates with your iPhone directly to control the camera. No information is sent to external servers for any of these features.

Purchases

Bmote Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. The developer does not receive your name, email address, payment details or Apple ID. The app only checks with Apple whether Pro has been unlocked on your account.

Data sharing and exports

Data leaves your device only when you choose to share it, for example by exporting a session as a GPX file or video through the share sheet. Where it goes is up to you, and its handling is then governed by the app or service you share it with.

Data retention and deletion

Because all data is stored locally, you are in full control of it. You can delete individual sessions or paired cameras in the app, revoke any permission in your device’s Settings, or delete the app to remove all of its data from your device.

Children

The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Significant changes, such as any future collection of data, will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
